One Piece Playing Cards: Product Review

Updated: Jul 9, 2020

So those of you who don’t know about One Piece… It is a prominent manga (i.e. Japanese Comics) written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda having 978 chapters and followed by a massively popular anime with 925 episodes which I am yet to read and watch. In early January, I purchased this from Amazon after seeing an impressive ad.

I got the product at a discounted price of Rs.499 originally costing Rs .999, sold by ComicSense.XYZ. There are 56 cards in the deck i.e. 52 cards + 2 Joker Cards + 2 Blank Cards.

Each card has a different image on the other side and wow! The illustrations are heavily detailed and spectacular, holding them in your hand gives the impression that these are of superior quality.

I played big-fool with a friend and rummy with my father. At first, I had a blast while playing but after subsequent rounds, its a pain.

These cards might seem tensile and tough but while playing they are very delicate on the corners and edges they tend to bend or leave wrinkles which gave a feeling of an incision made right in the heart.

First time corner of the Three of aces got bent. I took it as it happened due to my or my friend’s ignorance. The second time when I played with my father there was a wrinkle on the five of clubs, it became obvious to me that these are not meant for playing.

Ultimately it defeats the purpose of playing cards if one cannot play. So I would only recommend it to the One Piece fans in India own it on one condition which is to keep this as collectable.
